Diversity in Danish Performing Arts – Where Do Hidden Biases Lurk in Art and Everyday Life?

A Panel Conversation hosted by Iscene and Toaster at Kulturmødet, Mors

Moderator: Rie Hammer, chief editor ISCENE

Panel: Filip Vest, artist / Lea Hedeskov, DEIB & Knowledge Lead In futurum / Miriam Frandsen, project leader & curator Toaster

Where Are the Biases We Fail to See—Both in the Work and in Everyday Life? Diversity in Danish performing arts reaches far beyond what is immediately visible.

Taking Filip Vest’s work Selftape—screened as a prelude to the debate—as a starting point, we turn the spotlight on the precarious working conditions of the arts, identity, and queerness.

Miriam Frandsen shares insights from TOASTER’s practice and, together with Lea Hedeskov, highlights the underlying biases that hinder equal access to art, the industry, and the structural tendencies in society that stand in the way of progress.
