Performance as a part of Kulturmødet Mors programme
As part of the Kulturmødet Mors 2026 programme, two performances that were presented earlier this year at the Toaster Performance Biennale will be presented.
As a Nordic symbol, the raven represents a deep connection to the land and the earth, while also being part of a transcultural field of raven totemism that seeks to inspire less destructive, community-oriented ways of living.
In the performance Raven, Julienne Doko Dance explores this symbol through movement and dance rooted in a Central African background. In this way, a transcultural dialogue emerges, in which the raven becomes a shared language between different worlds.
Raven reimagines solidarity, community, and humanity’s connection to nature. Through the work, the shared power of natural and cultural symbols emerges as a bridge connecting different traditions and ways of life, pointing towards the possibility of finding common ground across cultural divides.
Julienne Doko Dance is a company led by Julienne Doko (FR/CF/DK), a French dancer, teacher, choreographer, and curator with roots in the Central African Republic and based in Denmark. Julienne Doko’s performance is presented in collaboration with Toaster, a platform for performance art. Toaster is a collaboration between Den Frie and Husets Teater.
