Workshop with Rabih Mroué

Offered in collaboration with the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts – Schools of Visual Arts and the Danish National School of Performing Arts – Continuing and Further Education

Experience Rabih Mroué’s work Four Walls and a Roof at Toaster’s Performance Biennale 2026 and gain a unique insight into his artistic choices, expressions, and working methods in this 3-hour workshop.

The workshop is based on seven existential questions that not only explore Rabih Mroué’s individual working methods and artistic expression, but also invite you to reflect on your own creative processes:

  • What methods do you use in your work?
  • How do you come up with ideas for projects?
  • What kinds of experiments do you conduct during your process?
  • How do you generate material?
  • What inspires your work?
  • How do you decide which material to use from your experiments?
  • What criteria do you use when selecting your material?

RABIH MROUÉ AT THE BIENNALE

In 1947, Bertolt Brecht appeared before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) in the United States, accused of combating communist activity. Brecht had written a statement that he was forbidden to read aloud. The transcripts from the hearing, together with this statement, form one of the central elements of this lavish work. Read more.
