CRUSH is a performance piece in the field of expanded choreography, investigating the architecture of an abandoned casino – once a machine of luck, money, desire and control, built to seduce and consume. Now it lies in ruins, where old whispers of promises, success and excess still linger.
Inhabited by TINY THEATRE – a fictional theatre troupe – the abandoned casino becomes their stage. Composed of the BUDS, the back‑up dancers, Tiny Theatre has no main star; the lead is removed and the practice of support becomes the centre. Through psychodrama, absurd rituals and role play, they dance for something that may no longer be there, supporting an absence, an invisible star, a collective heart that still beats somewhere in the dark. Tiny Theatre states: “Stars are big, but the space in between the stars is even bigger.”
CRUSH is a work that navigates ambivalence – crushing and being crushed, falling in love and falling apart at once – an absurd collective coming‑of‑age through a world in crisis, where old systems fracture and something feral begins to take shape.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Camilla Lind (DK) is a Copenhagen-based choreographer and interdisciplinary artist. Her practice revolves around the body as a psychophysical and collective entity. Departing from the perspective of the feminine other and the economy of sex in late-stage capitalism, she juxtaposes the punk and the dreamy to create ambiguous, intimate spaces where expectations are disrupted and new meanings emerge. Working across performance, image, text, textile, sculpture, and music, she explores how these mediums can reshape and influence one another.
She holds a degree in Dance and Choreography from DDSKS (2019), is a member of the artist-run studio Dance Coop (since 2020), and is part of the music and performance duo Lovers Revenge (since 2021).
Her work has recently been presented at institutions including Den Frie Udstillingsbygning, Aveny-T, Copenhagen Contemporary, and Fabrikken for Kunst og Design, as well as at festivals and venues such as Christiania Biennalen, The Carrier Bag Festival, Det Frie Felt Festival, Scoop Festival, and local spaces like Mayhem, Xenon, Baggen, Bøssehuset, Distortion, and Rewild — which dissolves the boundaries between venue and club. Internationally, her work has been shown in Berlin, New York, Malmö, and Tromsø.
TOASTER PERFORMANCE BIENNALE
In April 2026, Toaster presents Denmark’s first international performance biennale, taking place across Den Frie and Husets Teater.
The biennale offers a current portrait of the performance field within both visual art and performing arts – and the many intersections between them – which are rapidly evolving nationally as well as internationally. The focus is state of the art: taking the temperature of the field right now.
Experience more than 20 performances, including 10 entirely new works created specifically for the biennial. The artists range from established performance practitioners to emerging talents – sometimes within the same work.
The programme encompasses works rooted in dance, text, costume, sound, light, music, and space. Performance is here and now – it is the time we live in, and the time we choose to spend together.
