We’re ending the Toaster Performance Biennale 2026 with a concert with the rapper Tarrak in the Orcs & Others installation in Husets Teater’s foyer.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Tarrak stands as one of the most prominent voices from Kalaallit Nunaat’s/Greenland’s rap scene. Through his lyrics, Tarrak conveys the connection between the political and the personal, delivering a razor-sharp and hard-hitting critique of colonialist thinking.

Tarrak broke through with his debut album FxGxS, where the track “Tupilak” in particular became a major viral hit. In 2019, he released the album Josef Tarrak, a deeply personal and autobiographical project that explored the depths of the soul. The debut was later adapted for the stage under the same name. In 2023, he released the single “Uummatima” with the Danish rap group Suspekt. Last year, the singles “Ua” and “Fjernsynip Aquutaa” were released, and most recently, in the spring of 2025, he dropped “Polka.”

Tarrak has received several awards, including the Talent Prize at the 2017 Koda Awards, the Prize of the Year at the 2021 Koda Awards, and the Government of Greenland’s Encouragement Prize in 2017.

In 2023, Tarrak became the first rapper from Kalaallit Nunaat/Greenland to perform at the Roskilde Festival.

TOASTER PERFORMANCE BIENNALE

In April 2026, Toaster presents Denmark’s first international performance biennale, taking place across Den Frie and Husets Teater.

The biennale offers a current portrait of the performance field within both visual art and performing arts – and the many intersections between them – which are rapidly evolving nationally as well as internationally. The focus is state of the art: taking the temperature of the field right now.

Experience more than 20 performances, including 10 entirely new works created specifically for the biennial. The artists range from established performance practitioners to emerging talents – sometimes within the same work.

The programme encompasses works rooted in dance, text, costume, sound, light, music, and space. Performance is here and now – it is the time we live in, and the time we choose to spend together.
