Nervetråde: Performances by Adam Linder & Adam Christensen

Performance programme as a part of the exhibition Nervetråde at Den Frie

Nervetråde (Nerve Fibers) revolves around the grotesque, tracing threads from the nervous sensibility of literature around 1900, when Den Frie was founded, to the frayed nerves of contemporary art. The exhibition brings together works by Danish and international artists whose works pulse with the unease and strangeness running through our time. Across three evenings during the exhibition period, we present an eccentric and off-kilter performance programme of dance, music, language and more to explore the undersides of the categories and conventions that structure the familiar world.

This evening features Adam Linder’s Mothering The Tongue (2023/2026) and Adam Christensen’s A Vampire Kiss (2026)

Admission with normal entrance fee.

Mothering The Tongue – by Adam Linder

In this dance and lecture performance, Adam Linder moves through a restless reflection on the making of choreography, improvisation, and the layers of experience that emerge in the course of dancing. He moves between different improvised dance passages, textual reflections, and musical cues ranging from Bach to Sinéad O’Connor. Mothering the Tonguecreates a stripped-back situation, almost like a rehearsal-room setting, in which thought, language, music, and movement constantly interfere with one another.

A Vampire Kiss – by Adam Christensen

Nervousness and fragility run through Adam Christensen’s work, in which the boundaries between everyday life and fiction, the documentary and the staged, begin to dissolve. Recordings from Paris during the spring, including conversations about goth aesthetics and a church service, form the basis of a new performance commissioned for the exhibition. The performance constructs the physical exhibition space as a carrier of stories about heartbreak, desire, memory, and dreams.
