ARTIST TALK: BACK TO BACK THEATRE & CASPAR ERIC

presented by

CPH STAGE, Toaster & REPUBLIQUE

The event is created in a collaboration between CPH STAGE, Toaster og REPUBLIQUE.

Meet the Artists Behind The Shadow Whose Prey The Hunter Becomes. Join Bruce Gladwin, Sarah Mainwaring, Simon Laherty, and Scott Price in conversation with the Danish poet and activist Caspar Eric. Together, they will explore the artistic process of working with neurodivergence and the creation of inclusive theatre—on stage and beyond. The conversation will focus on the artistic work behind the performance, as well as the frameworks that shape artistic creation. They will also touch on how the performing arts can challenge our perception of democratic dialogue and who gets to have a voice in it.

BACK TO BACK THEATRE has received widespread national and international acclaim for their commitment to inclusive theatre. The company consists of actors who all identify as people with intellectual disabilities or as neurodivergent. While they describe their practice as a celebration of human potential, they are today regarded as one of Australia’s most significant cultural voices.

CASPAR ERIC is a poet and playwright. He is the author of numerous poetry collections and has received several prestigious awards, including the Prince Henrik Prize in 2023 and the Bjørnson Prize in 2024 for his artistic work. His latest collection Nye balancer (“New Balances”, 2023) is subtitled disability poems and reflects his activist efforts to improve rights and conditions for people with disabilities.

The conversation will be conducted in English.
