Blue Swallowings

by

Beck Heiberg

Double-bill with'Seek Bromance' by Samira Elagoz

In the sea of emotions sorrow, desire, anger and joy coexist. It is difficult to approach the sea because never knowing what it might bring is frightening and uncomfortable. Beck Heiberg asks the question if it is not more scary not to?

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE (DK)

Moan for me. Take care of me. Fuck me. Use my tears as lubricant and let the swallows’ cries swallow up the sorrow.

Blue Swallowings is a performance that exists in the swallow’s early summer and the sultry melancholy that occurs when the seasons change. Or where you have lost a loved one while the sun shines on your body releasing endorphins. Or where it all feels so good it hurts the chest. It lies at the crossroads between grief and the sensual and examines the encounter between the two immediate opposites. It suggests a place where these two can coexist, where the sad can turn you on, or where an orgasm turns into tears. Both grief and desire enable a connection to the raw, unedited and overwhelming emotions in the body.

In the performance, the body becomes a tool that can translate emotions into movements and by moving with the two opposing entities, it becomes the meeting place for their fusion. It screams with pleasure and lets the pain take over. It contracts in convulsive crying and in orgasm. It moves slowly in weight and sensuality. It stands alone on stage and contains the wistful tones of the music and the carnality of the words as it tries to find someone to share its feelings with.

MANAGING DISCOMFORT PERFORMANCEFESTIVAL

In the spring of 2024, Toaster and Live Art Denmark present the performance festival MANAGING DISCOMFORT, which includes a number of Danish and international artists whose works have the common denominator that they all deal with discomfort, but process it with care and humor.

The festival stretches over seven weeks and each week two new performances are presented, which are staged as a double-bill at Husets Teater. This means that one ticket gives access to both performances, which are separated by a short break.
