Virtual Waltz

Virtual Waltz is a musical performance that explores the mood and escalation of nerves and energies often present during the minutes before going on stage – and the rituals executed to get rid of them; Some write postcards or meditate, while others eat a cheese. At center of the piece is a small group of masked performers whose role no one quite knows what is, but whose appearance reminds us that we all look a bit alike.

ABOUT MOLLY HASLUND

Molly Haslund graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 2005. Her works span autobiographical and musical performances, scenographic installations, social sculptures and choreographed group performances in public spaces. With changing strategies, she investigates how identity, social hierarchies and norms are closely connected with and are negotiated via bodily gestures, cultural rituals and the layout of our surroundings.
Molly Haslund has exhibited and staged her performances extensively in Denmark and abroad. Her works are represented in public collections at SMK Statens Museum for Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Roskilde and in the sculpture park Wanås Konst in Sweden.

MANAGING DISCOMFORT PERFORMANCEFESTIVAL

In the spring of 2024, Toaster and Live Art Denmark present the performance festival MANAGING DISCOMFORT, which includes a number of Danish and international artists whose works have the common denominator that they all deal with discomfort, but process it with care and humor.

The festival stretches over seven weeks and each week two new performances are presented, which are staged as a double-bill at Husets Teater. This means that one ticket gives access to both performances, which are separated by a short break.
