Digging a Glittery Grave

by

Beck Heiberg & Charlie Laban Trier

Presented by Selected Works Festival in collaboration with Toaster.

Digging a Glittery Grave is a three-hour performance installation. The performers Beck Heiberg and Charlie Laban Trier form continuous tableaux and invite the participants to come and go as they please. There is no division between the stage and the auditorium. The materials used in the installation include flower petals, teddy bears, drawings, poems, pastel colours, jewellery – things that connote cuteness. Cuteness is a contrast to and a way of dealing with “heavy issues”, such as the misrepresentation of trans-masculine people in pop culture. On the stage, the two artists ritually create room in which to process the joys and sorrows of living as trans-masculine people. The public is invited to watch, record and post live from the installation, using a specially-designed face filter, on Instagram@diggingaglitterygrave and on the website diggingaglitterygrave.com.

Beck Heiberg (he/him) is a choreographer and performer who holds a BA in Theatre and Performance Studies from the University of Copenhagen.
