In this post-Covid work, we meet the performance group Boys * in Sync, not all of whose members can appear on stage, due amongst other things to the pandemic. The two remaining performers, Danish Jakob Schnack Krog and German Simon David Zeller, strive to fill the entire stage space by themselves. But little by little, the three absent performers appear on video and insist on joining the performance anyway.

Happy Vineyards is a recycling mix which combines performing arts genres such as choreography, slapstick, improvisation and fight, humorously touching on themes of community and masculinity. The title is a reference to a 1925 German play, “Der fröhliche Weinberg” (“The Happy Vineyard”) by Carl Zuckmayer.

Boys* in Sync is an interdisciplinary performance group with members from Denmark, South Africa, Norway and Germany. The group combines elements and methods drawn from contemporary dance, post-dramatic theatre and storytelling. They work with equal dramaturgy in the creative process, and are collectively led.

Jakob Schnack Krog and Simon David Zeller are graduates of the Norwegian Theatre Academy (NTA). Simon David Zeller also holds a degree in Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft (ATW) from Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany.
